Born in Puerto Rico, Sophia Martinez-Ortiz discovered her passion for performing at an early age. After moving to Los Angeles with her family, she quickly immersed herself in the world of performance—attending casting calls, studying gymnastics, and writing original songs to sing for her family. Moving to Florida didn’t stop her from working hard in fact, her love for the stage only deepened as she began formal voice and dance training, joining her school’s top choir and competitive dance team. She also learned to play the piano, allowing her to bring her original music to life.
Her theatrical journey began in 8th grade when she was invited to perform in a local high school’s production of Oliver! It was there that she realized musical theater combined everything she loved: singing, dancing, and acting. From that moment on, Sophia committed herself to developing her craft—auditioning for every theater production she could and taking every available drama class.
Beyond performing, Sophia has gained experience in nearly every aspect of theater production, working as a stage manager, projection operator, and even directing a one-act play for her district’s theater competition. She has served as a dedicated officer in her school’s drama club for three years, currently holding the position of President. To date, Sophia has appeared in over 15 theatrical productions, including several community and regional shows, and has landed more than five leading roles. Her on-camera work includes multiple short films and commercials, helping her grow into a versatile and dynamic performer.
Sophia is also a proud Teen Ambassador for the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and was recently accepted into Florida State University’s prestigious Musical Theatre Intensive. With plans to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre after high school, Sophia is excited to continue her journey as a performer and hopes to inspire other young artists to dream boldly, work hard, and believe that anything is possible.
